I was never a 4.0 student. I tried some, but I didn’t become a martyr for a grade ever.
I stumbled upon a math test from pastry school. Culinary math is quite different with their word problems, as you can imagine.
Everyone in my class thought I was the best at math because I came up with answers quickly and usually they were correct.
This math test was quite the opposite testament. I got 1/5 of the questions wrong. And while that’s not failing, it is far from perfect.
I remember making pizza dough my first day of my last quarter of pastry school and everyone handed me the recipe to math out what we needed.
While the dough came out correct, I calculated 12 pounds shy for what I projected getting. Oops. Of course it was my fault for getting it wrong, but it was also my classmates for not checking my math.
Fast forward 16 years.
