Author: Deborah

Hi, I’m Deborah! I am a stay-at-home, home schooling mom in Western Montana. I am a self-help junkie and a minimalist - even if only in my mind. I love learning different ways to think and relate to people, all filtered through the love of Christ. I am writing for my own journey to become more intentional with my time, my words, and my relationships with people and with things. This blog is my way of fighting against my own perfectionistic tendencies by finally launching after dreaming about it for so long. I am wife to Jeff, since 2013. We have three beautiful children, ages 5, 3, and 1. I hope you’ll follow along in my journey of Keeping Home Simple!

Posted on August 4, 2024November 6, 2025 by Deborah

“Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 NKJV I’m realizing lately that I’m different in how I think and converse with others. I’ve always believed that “friend therapy is the best therapy.” I’ve been told countless times that I would be a good therapist, that…

”She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.“‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Ruthlessly declutter.” I’ve heard that a hundred times. I’ve done that with my clothes, shoes, and kitchen appliances. I’ve decluttered papers to be down to very few and only important ones. I have even decluttered what ingredients…

”In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty.“‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14‬:‭23‬ ‭ ”The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.“‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬ I was having tea with a friend today, and in our conversation, we talked about our different struggles, wishing…

The Call of Rest

”Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!“‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬ ‭ ”But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”“‭‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭‬‬ I’ve been yearning to get back into a more energized routine….

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ This week has been a roller coaster. I have been anxious one day and in a completely messy house. Then the next day, keeping on top of everything,…

How to Move Forward when You Can’t Move at All

Posted on December 22, 2023January 12, 2026 by Deborah

I heard a crash in the pantry and this spilled out. Sprinkles. As bad as glitter but much stickier. My brain reels: I don’t have time for this. There’s already too much to do. The girls need lunch. Andrew is tired and needed a diaper change five minutes ago. I’m hungry and getting cranky. How…

A step-by-step guide to doing bedtime solo. My husband travels for work during the summers. He always has and I honestly hope he always will – he gets wander-lusty and my homebody-self does not want to travel that much! When it was just the two of us, while he was gone, I saw friends, went…
