I got an email today titled “Don’t Dump Out The Lego Bucket!” It’s about planning your home school year, but was also very ironic. Because I am working on a second-have Lego kit right now.
The email said to not dump everything out and have to sort through every piece to find what next, but to follow the instructions, open one bag at a time, and work with what’s in front of you.
I have a mixed kit of about 1,000 Lego bricks and a 300 step instruction book – not booklet, real book! – to make it. Oh! And those 1,000 bricks are mixed into every other brick we own. So, like, 3,000 unneeded bricks.
It a mess. And overwhelming.
My life kind of feels like I bumped it all out, too.
Summer is going by quickly and dispute having made false deadlines for my projects, I have finished nothing.
My project list includes:
Stain the fence
Re-upholster the dining room chair cushions
Make a friends daughters wedding cake
Clean the mold out of the attic and off the bedroom windows
As well as things like plant a garden, water the plants so they don’t die, go swimming with our pool pass before it expires, travel to see family, go on a camping trip, purchase and plan school for the year, write choir emails to open the season, overnight toilet train my son, meal plan, do laundry, try feeding my kids veggies and protein every day, and get consistent sleep.
It’s a lot.
And I can’t do any of it right now: I have a knee injury that’s keeping me off my feet.
