Every change of season makes me wanna clean my house at least in one way or another spring brings on airing out the house and summer brings on projects fall is deep cleaning and getting ready for winter winter is usually taken up by sanitizing and disinfecting from being sick. But here is my list of fall deep cleaning.
Vacuum under beds
Clean light fixtures. Since the sun is up for less and less of the day, the indoor lights are on more.
Linens, blankets, and bed skirts
Wipe down the pantry shelves and rearrange after summer snack chaos.
Go through book shelves to remove any books I don’t plan on revisiting.
Clean the insides of kitchen and bathroom cupboards. Declutter and organize as I go.
Wipe the washer and dryer with a wet dusting rag. It also forces me the clear off my dryer, which tends to collect clutter.
Edge vacuum all the carpet and flooring. The corners in my kitchen feel so nice when they’re sucked free of crumbs and debris. Carpets also feel much nicer when there are no dust bunnies hiding in the 1/2” where the beater-bar doesn’t reach.
Vacuum the stairs. Maybe this should be done more frequently than the change of seasons, but knowing that I for sure do this quarterly helps ease my mind.
Mop. Not with a swiffer, but with a real mop and a dual-sink method with rinse water in one side and soapy hot water in the other. To avoid the stickiness of soap on the floor, I add a cup of white vinegar the the soapy water.
Clean out the front closet from lingering summer items and get it ready for winter. Make sure everyone has a coat that fits and that ones that they are stored where they’re accessible this year. If you don’t have more kids to grow into them, pass on the ones you are done with.
Dump out my purse. There were pounds of stuff in my purse that I had forgotten about. Now it has only essentials: my wallet and two diapers. Not 6 diapers, 4 snacks, a dozen receipts, leftover change, or my worst culprit: a moldy orange.
