What has changed my prayer life

Posted on August 25, 2026 by Deborah

When I was in high school youth group, my youth pastor did a series on praying out loud. It seemed like something that would be useful in settings like a Bible study, small group, or if we ever decided to be pastors ourselves. What I never thought would happen is that I’d would change my life completely.

Preaching to yourself

My mom told me that sometime you have to preach to yourself. Hearing your prayers out loud processes them into your ears as an encouraging word

Praying the same blessings

I pray the fruits of the spirit over my day, my body, and ask that the Spirit of God flows out of me as fruit to my children.

Surrender

Armor up!

Our days are brought with spiritual battle, whether we acknowledge it or not.

The Bible tell us to apply our spiritual armor in more than one place, but the “full armor of God” includes:

The belt of truth

The breastplate of righteousness

The helmet of salvation

The shoes prepared for the gospel of peace

The shield of faith

And the sword of the spirit.

I pray these onto myself daily. It’s how I get dressed for my spiritual day.

Make it a daily practice
